Smart Growth Partnership is pleased to announce an upcoming event to celebrate our 20-year anniversary. Held at the beautiful Fort Lauderdale Women’s Clubhouse, this beautifully renovated historic structure is an oasis nestled in a botanical garden in Downtown Fort Lauderdale. 

The best way to tell our story is to celebrate the accomplishments of many smart growth-focused activities in our communities. Each year, Smart Growth Partnership recognizes projects and policies that use smart growth principles to improve communities environmentally, socially, and economically.  As an organization, we want to encourage communities to protect and enhance the natural environment while strengthening their economies. Our Smart Growth Excellence Awards celebrate when they are reusing previously developed land; providing more housing and transportation choices; preserving critical natural areas; and developing vibrant places to live, work, shop, and play. And, when properly implemented, these techniques can protect air, water, and land resources and make communities more attractive to businesses, residents, and visitors. 

Join us in celebrating our award recipients and their successful projects that have incorporated using smart growth principles to further improve our communities across the region. Our program will be moderated by Sergio Bustos, WLRN’s Vice President for News and our keynote speaker will be Toccarra Nicole Thomas, Smart Growth America’s Director of Land Use and Development. The program will feature updates from the following Smart Growth Excellence Award winners:
